To synchronize database files on Windows XP laptops you must enable the file type. Local computer policy needs to be edited. Note that some database files can become corrupted while sync action is taking place. Use at your own risk. I needed to sync files that had a .db extension but were not real databases. These were used in industrial applications.

To edit the local policy, click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.

Enable the following sample policy in Policy Editor:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files\Files not cached

Put nothing in the file if you want to synchronize everything or the file extensions you want NOT to synchronize (i.e. (*.slm;*.mdb;*.ldb;*.mdw;*.mde;*.db?)

Log off and back on.
